For about 35 years I have never felt the need for an assistant with any of my photography.
But my recently discovered gem proved her worth a thousand fold yesterday.
Prior to the shoot I let her know that I was not feeling 100%. She eagerly relieved me of the fretting about posing and directing.
However about an hour into the shoot when pain prevented me from holding the camera steady, and from speaking in coherent sentences the "lil stunna" took over the shooting so seamlessly that it is difficult to distinguish between her shots and mine.
A huge thank you for the enthusiasm, professionalism and dedication of Abbey Callton - assistant/ second shooter, as well as Cassie Franklin - model, for between them they turned what could have so easily become a much shortened disaster into an enjoyable and highly productive afternoon, and a surprisingly instructive learning experience for all three of us.
