Anyone wanting to gain some experience?
Is there, or does anyone know of, a student of photography, video, media or communications or a keen amateur photographer of sound recordist, who would be interested in gaining some experience and training in all aspects of documentary production, including video, photography, sound recording, research and scripting? The person would need to live in the Lake Macquarie area (NSW, Australia) or nearby. Stephen Bennett Photography and Video will be producing a small, independent documentary about the Eleebana/Valentine area during 2015, and would prefer one or two additional crew (Unpaid) from close by, so as to be able to assist with liaison with participating residents, as well as actual production. Happy New Year : 2015
Let's Start the New Year Right. If you are interested in Modelling or Acting, beginner or experienced, I, and most other professional photographers in this field, as well as legitimate modelling and acting agencies would love to hear from you. New and as yet undiscovered talent is always sought after and welcome, but does require serious application and genuine dedication to succeed. Portfolio shoots providing industry standard and useful head, figure and fashion shots, helpful information and credible advice are only an email message away. If portraiture is what you want, portrait sessions are available at reasonable rates. Not the cheapest around by any means, but photography is increasingly an industry where you get the quality you pay for. If however you want cheap or free "pretty pics", or theme shoots, or want to join the "internet modelling" movement, I am probably not the photographer you are looking for: there are, however, thousands of internet "photographers" you can have fun playing at modelling with, and I would be happy to point you in the direction of some of the more responsible ones. If however you are coming from the "internet modelling" world, have been bitten by the "bug", and wish to pursue legitimate modelling, you are very welcome, so by all means message me. But be prepared to forget all that you have "learned" or been "taught" about posing, model requirements, chasing work, what is "great for your portfolio", and "the industry" in general...the difference between modelling in the real world and internet modelling is vast, and increasingly so, and successful transition from one to the other is rare but not yet impossible if you have the dedication and perseverence, are not afraid of hard work, and are willing to take sound advice. Experience...the Difference! Congratulations to my friend, former great model, and outstanding photographer,
Erin Wright (Rinny), on her recent marriage. May the light of happiness shine in your eyes forever. The first in a projected series of blogs and accompanying Youtube videos exploring the hows, whys and wherefores of : You Want To Be a Professional in the Creative Arts. This month marks 40 years since I won my first International Salon Exhibition award, with a portrait of my friend John Byrne...
Simply entitled "John". The annual Chinese Cultural Festival held at The Entrance today...got over 700 pics to edit, and then they will available.
Two recent testimonials from satisfied models:
From: Bronwen Creevey, (former model) Thanks so much Stephen - I was an absolute green 'newbie' when I was fortunate and privileged enough to have met you. A blank canvas with stars in her eyes eager to learn with such high aspirations of entering the modelling industry. I thought it was going to be so easy. I am extremely indebted to you for the knowledge and experience you imparted which stayed with me throughout my time, in every assignment I took part in - without it I would have definitely floundered. The ease in which you form a connection with others to achieve a fantastic outcome is sadly lacking with a number of photographers out there, as I soon found out very quickly, and I am extremely appreciative that such an esteemed creative professional took me under his wing. And yes, the first thing you ever told me – "‘You have to work hard to succeed as a model" ’- was certainly correct! From: Cassie Franklin, ( model) I would like to say that I am very thankful to two very talented individuals I have worked with lately and if anyone gets a chance to work with these two they should. So big thank you to Abbey Callton, a very talented young lady with great things to come from her, and to Stephen Bennett who is a great person, and a blessing to work with; these two people have grown to become great friends. 100 percent love working with you, it is a joyful and a fun experience which brings out the real me, and I love it! Great work guys! Wow! On behalf of my wonderful assistant, Abbey Callton, and myself, thankyou very much ladies. Stephen Bennett
One of those incredible days when everything just goes right.
With rapidly rising young actress/model Abbey Callton at the local Sensory Gardens for a "Winter in the Outdoors" photoshoot yesterday. So with the cool, crisp sun glittering on the Lake, and the Rainbow Lorrikeets and their early season young rejoicing in the last of the Grevillea flowers around us, we settled into a very productive session. And then came the ladies: a small but noisy group pausing on their brisk constitutional: "OOoo...It's a real photoshoot!"... "What lovely clothes"... "Isn't she pretty?" And then amidst the obligatory camera phone snaps, they were slightly startled: surprised and delighted by a disarming smile, a friendly wave, and a cheery "Hello" from what I am sure they believed would be an aloof, maybe even snooty "Model". Not a bad way to eke out a living, eh? WELCOME!
After an absence of several years from the internet, I have now relaunched my Photography Website. This website can be read in conjuction with: My Facebook Business Page: My Blog about making it in a career in the photography industry, with plenty of photography and modelling tips included: |
